Bjarki’s Turn at Horse Riding School
[Written 15 August 2013]
For our second ‘summer vacation’ week we signed Bjarki up for the same horse riding school as Anna had attended. This was the last week the school operated this summer, and Bjarki’s group consisted of only four kids! (Apparently attendance drops off in July because people go ‘elsewhere’ for their vacation. Each group usually has 10 kids.)
We did contemplate letting Anna go too, but Bjarki’s group was before lunch, while Anna would have been after lunch, so it would have been messy scheduling-vise. And she’d already had five weeks, so enough was enough!
But, one should never underestimate Anna’s love of animals!
Every morning, Anna dragged herself out of bed on her own, so that she could tag along as we dropped Bjarki off at 9 am, and then came with us to pick him up at lunchtime. The lucky goose even got permission twice to stay behind with Bjarki to “play with the kittens” and “observe” but both times she ended up on horseback leading the procession of horses while the instructors minded the little kids.
The school ended on a Friday after a week of lovely weather, and I dutifully showed up with my camera.

Bjarki waiting for his last horse-riding bit. This was the week of the really nice weather, and there was a sizable population of flies about.
