New Numbers – Nine Weeks Old
We took Ms. Emma to the health clinic today for her well-baby check-up. She’s now 6.760 g and 61 cm long, up from 5.805 g and 58 cm three weeks ago.
Just for kicks, I found a growth chart program from the WHO, and here’s Emma:

Weight vs. Age. The colored lines are percentage lines marking (from the top line) the 97th, 85th, 50th, 15th, and 3rd percentile. Emma is currently heavier than 98.1% of children her age according to the WHO.

Length vs. Age. The colored lines represent the 97th, 85th, 50th, 15th, and 3rd percentiles. Emma is currently taller than 96.6% of children her age according to the WHO.
Interestingly, the health system in Iceland uses growth charts that originate from Sweden, and according to those charts Ms. Emma is following her percentile line nicely, and not crossing lines like above.
Also, before I forget, the Moby Wrap is AWESOME. It’s the best way to put Emma to sleep if she’s over-tired or just fussy, and hasn’t failed us yet.
I’m also happy to report that I’ve made it to she swimming pool a few times in the past couple of weeks (usually while taking Bjarki to his twice-weekly swim lesson) and have managed to swim 1 km in 27-28 minutes a couple of times. It used to take me 30-32 minutes when I was (not so) preggers, but I suspect the improvement is mostly because I’m swimming more freestyle, and less breast-stroke than I used to. And yes, our local swimming pool is awesome, and getting pretty crowded now that the sun is up high and shining brightly.
