The Days Go By
I’m not taking a whole lot of pictures, but I try to grab the camera at least every other day. Here are a few shots from days past.
Monday March 18 2013: If one positions Ms. Bambino just so, her flailing arms hit the toys, much to her fascination.
Tuesday March 19 2013: Fast asleep shortly after midnight. Not sure what that facial expression is supposed to signify.
Friday 22 March 2013: Finnur was feeling extra energetic when he came home from work, and decided to clean the living room and kitchen windows with Bjarki’s help. All our windows became utterly filthy after the blizzard brought muddy ash from far away, and now that we’re getting so much daylight, it’s becoming very noticeable.
Saturday 23 March 2013: On the advice of my physical therapist, I dug out our old exercise ball from storage, and was about to go hunt down a pump when I got interrupted. Anna found the deflated ball, and blew it up to 80% herself!
Finnur’s oldest sister paid us a visit to check out the littlest chickling. Of course, by the time I’d remembered to bring out the camera, Ms. Bambino was starting to get fussy.

I wonder what effect it will have on this generation of kids that today’s parents spend a lot of time glued to screens of various sizes…
Sunday 24 March 2013: I WENT FOR A WALK!!! Yes, I actually left the house all by myself, walked up to this Buddha shrine which overlooks our house and walked around the cemetery that’s up on the hill, before heading back. Total walking time: 25 minutes. I’ve now been crutch-free for two weeks, and my leg is ‘fine’ for all intents and purposes, although my physio wants me to keep doing strengthening exercises. Which is fine by me.
Adda and Halli visited that afternoon and Halli test-drove Ms. Bambino. We also FILLED THE HOT TUB for the first time since Anna broke her arm in August and the four kids played in it for a good while. For some reason I totally forgot to take a picture of the water play. Pétur and Fannar also stopped by, and I cut Pétur’s hair because he looked like a hobo. I also forgot to take pictures of that. Tsk, tsk!
Monday 25 March 2013: The entire week before Easter is a school holiday. Two of Anna’s classmates came to visit, and Anna pestered me into allowing them to bake cookies.
The chocolate chocolate chip cookies. They were pretty good! After baking, I went to try and nap with the wee-est one, but Anna came into our room to look for swim-suits, so no nap for me. Turns out the girls had decided to go and SUNBATHE in our backyard, in BIKINIS. When I went to check on them, I was surprised to find that the thermostat in the corner of our patio (where it can get really toasty in the summer time) was at 16C/60F in the shade! Seeing how I desperately needed to nap (aka get rid of the squealing pre-teen girls) I sent them off to the swimming pool because (and this is aaamaaaazing!) Anna and her classmates are now old enough (will be 10 this year) to go swimming all by themselves!!!
