One Week to Go…
No blogging yesterday – it was too plain a day, with some much needed Rest-and-Relaxation, a Grocery-Run, Gym-Class, and Managing-an-Exhausted-Anna.
Today was more out and about. I met up with my skin doctor of many years this morning, and he told me that birth marks tend to look more feisty when women are pregnant, and then recede after they give birth! He also told me that dormant warts (supposedly dead warts) have a tendency to bloom when women are pregnant, even though they’ve been dormant for years or decades! (Yes, this is me admitting I’ve got an annoying wart on under my big toe, previously believed killed before we left California, but apparently it wasn’t.)
Another wart-related item that surprised me: Skin doctors don’t like to freeze warts on women who are pregnant, just in case the ‘sudden pain’ causes a premature delivery! Or as the doctor said “If something like that happens, you don’t want to have something to blame it on.” Fair enough.
Speaking of potential delivery starters though: Isn’t climbing stairs supposed to be a nono? Hmmm… Well, today I took two trips to the local hardware store (yes, and some other stores too) to buy replacement bulbs for the 40-light outdoor Christmas decorations that were left here by the previous owners. Shockingly I ended up replacing 9 of the 40 bulbs (!!!), although I will admit to dropping the darn thing and breaking one bulb myself.
After the evil chain-of-lights finally stayed completely lit, I hauled it outside along with our large stepladder, and hooked the lights on to the terribly convenient string and hooks the previous owners had installed. At 28 weeks. Probably not my brightest moment, but I didn’t fall, so it was ok. Probably.
Dinner was my first lasagna in over two years (mental note: cover it with aluminum foil for the first part to avoid a very crunchy top..!), and then the usual bed-routine. My brother Bjarni spent the evening here, prepping for a maths test tomorrow – he’s borderline sick though, so here’s hoping he pulls through!
Chatted with Finnur a bit, but now it’s time for bed! Only one week left until he should be back! 🙂
