Anywhere But Home
As the house gets untidier and untidier by the minute (I really should replace all flat surfaces with sloped surfaces, so they stop accumulating all that ‘stuff’) I find myself working harder and harder to ignore the untidiness. One way of doing that is by not being at home.
This morning for example, I managed to lure a friend to meet at a cafe and chat for an hour. Then I went and visited two stores (Ólátagarður and Spilavinir) that are located ‘out of the way’ but I’ve been meaning to visit for a long while. One sells pretty design-y stuff for kids, and the other is a dedicated family-friendly game and puzzle shop where the staff really know their stuff.
Both turned out to be pretty darn expensive (a board game I wanted to buy was about twice as expensive as in the US) but fun to visit nonetheless.
After lunch, I became near-comatose, so I swung back home for a two-hour nap. Then I went to pick up the boys before rallying enough to go to gym class. At dinner time it became apparent that all was not well with Bjarki, and sure enough, he’s got a fever again, and won’t be going to daycare tomorrow (third day off this week). The big question is whether I should bother to take him to the doctor tomorrow (“Yes, it’s a virus, and the ear-ache is only two days old, so you get nothing but a sympathetic smile”) or not. And yes, I still have a sore-throat.
I’m a really impatient patient. Grrr…
