Sunrise Issues and Labels
The days have been getting progressively shorter for a while now, but we’ve now reached a point where it’s still pitch dark outside at 07:05 when our alarms go off, and it’s barely starting to light up when Anna leaves for school shortly before 8 am. This shift in sunrise has hit Bjarki particularly hard, and he is all confused about when the day starts now.
This morning for example, he let our a sharp cry of ‘IT’S NOT DAYTIME YET’ when my alarm went off, and continued being in a foul mood until I’d gotten some breakfast in him. He’s been waking up recently at random times during the night, wondering if it’s time to get up yet, but we’ve held off on saying yes until it’s at least 06:30, at which point he’s free to leave his bed to go play while we snooze on. He also started being afraid of the dark a few weeks ago, so we ended up buying him a night-light which has reduced his night-time fussiness.
We may need to get him a clock at some point in the near future, but he’s still somewhat fuzzy on the concept of ‘time’, and he hasn’t quite gotten his numbers down, although he’s finally showing a bit of interest in them. I know there are ‘colored’ clocks, but I’m not entirely sold on them when the concept of ‘time’ itself is still fuzzy.
In other news, I celebrated Anna’s newly sorted room by spending most of the day making labels for her drawers. I chickened out on taking my own pictures for them, and instead spent hours sorting through Google Image searches for something that would work. I also chickened out on using a proper drawing program, and assembled the labels in Word, which was ok, but boy oh boy, has nobody given any thought to redesigning the table and border menus?!? They’re still the same ones from at least 1995 and they’re crappy as hell!
Anyway, the results of my travails follow:
I tried to print the labels just now, but the stupid printer claimed to be out of black ink, even though only the ‘skinny’ black ink tank was empty, but the ‘fat’ black ink tank was perfectly fine. I grumbled very loudly, and cursed the printer division of Canon backwards and forwards.
Since there are no pretty labels, there were also no pretty room pictures. So they have to wait until at least tomorrow.
