First Stab at Organizing
In spite of a rotten cold, which has left me voiceless, full of snot, and coughing every now and again since Friday, I feel like I’m waking up again from the pregnancy-slumber. Finally! (Oh, and I’m definitely on the mend now, feeling much better today!)
Yesterday I commandeered the car, and then visited so many shops I lost count, searching for a lot of odds and ends that are on the to-buy list.
Today I stayed home, but also chipped tons of stuff off the to-do-at-home list. I potted plants (into pots I got yesterday) in an attempt to rescue the parsley, basil and mint we got started way late this summer because it’s getting cold outside again. Must be this thing they call ‘fall’.
Then I attacked our linen closet (don’t ask) before finally venturing into Bjarki’s room, which is in need of a MAJOR stuff reorganization. The room has been a disaster area for most of the summer, but a couple of days ago, Anna and her friend ‘cleaned’ it up in exchange for a sleep-over on Friday (they did this unasked, and pumped us for their reward after the fact!). By ‘cleaned’ I mean that all the stuff disappeared off of the floor (and they vacuumed!!), but it mostly got randomly thrown into the various toy-bins.
So, now we have a room that is still essentially drowning in toys, but the toys are all jumbled up, making play difficult. Which brings me to this afternoon’s project: making labels for the Ikea-toy-bins. This has been on my to-to-list for about half a year, but I finally bit the bullet and got started. Here are small snapshots from today (not all are in their finished state, but this should give you (and me) an idea):
Yeah, yeah, the ‘white’ background is not equally white everywhere, the letters aren’t the same size etc. etc., but this is the result of a quick photo-hackjob plus a super-quick picasa-photo-editing hackjob.
The next step will be to print these out tomorrow, and see what they look like on the bins with respect to size, colors etc. It’s a work in progress! 🙂
