An Early-Bird Christmas Vacation
Once I found out that I’d be all done with final exams on December 5th, I went right ahead and bought tickets for us to spend 10 days in the UK before Christmas with dad et al. It’s always nice to change scenery, and get a little extra daylight over the darkest bit of the year in Iceland. So to England we flew, and spent the days mostly just hanging out at my dad’s, oh and I did a bit of shopping too. 🙂

The stewardesses of Icelandair have this lovely custom of coming out into the main waiting area and sing happy Yule-tide songs before heading to the planes (which all depart around the same time). They're really quite good!! 🙂

The kids played with Lego a Lot. 🙂 I think it was good for them to have to hang out with just themselves for an extended period of time.

We visited this park pretty much every day. It was mostly nice out and not a snowflake in sight.
They've been renovating the play-area in the park. Here's a 'spinner'. Very cool, and a lot of fun! 🙂

Another neat thing are these three 'planks' that emit a sound when you step hard on either end of them. You can play a tune on it.

At some point in the past I worried that Bjarki wouldn't figure out how to climb up a slide. I needn't have.

For a while the players (minus Bjarki, he gave up pretty quickly) engaged in lending practices. Once Anthony got booted out, lending stopped, and in the end Anna bested her dad. Because she's as stubborn as he is. 😉

Thus ended our UK vacation, and it was back to snowy Iceland in the midst of Christmas-prep fever.
