In Grundarfjörður
We woke up to glorious weather, and headed for the pool in Ólafsvík around lunchtime. We discovered that it was an indoor pool, which was not very appealing in the blazing sun. We therefore drove a little ways east to Grundarfjörður.

The public swimming pool in Grundarfjörður. I failed to take a picture in the other direction to document the very impressive view from the pool.

We went to Cafe 59 to eat a late lunch. We happily arrived just as a big crowd was leaving, and before another one arrived.

Hildur, Arnar and Anna with Kirkjufell in the background. We laughed because the ex-Californians sat in the shade, while the proper Icelanders sat in the sun. At one point the waitress removed the sun-brella to fit a pizza on the table, and all the ex-Californians wailed in protest. The pizza ended up on a chair by the table.

We drove west past Kirkjufell (Church-mount) and stopped by a sandy reef to play. The tide had gone out while we were swimming, so the beach was huuuuge compared to what it had been when we drove past it earlier.

There were quite a few jelly-fish stranded on the beach, waiting for the tide to come back up again.

Bjarki got very tired walking so I took him up on my shoulders to walk back towards the little dots in the distance.

The adults collapsed into bed after the beach trip, except for Adda who heroically took the kids to the playground. We had dinner, and then tried (and mostly failed) to get the kids to bed early. Here is Anna reading to Arnar.
The adults did manage to play a bit of Rummikub, and have a bit of a chat before heading to bed.
