A quick catch-up
It’s early Thursday right now. The schedule thus far since the last schedule posting has been:
Monday
I was useless and slept for most of the day. Finnur and Anna on the other hand were out and about: Finnur reclaimed his passport from the US Embassy with the required update, they visited Finnur’s grandfather, and then ended up at my mom’s place. Around 5pm, Finnur’s siblings and their human accessories all gathered at home-base to a) celebrate Finnur’s dad’s birthday, b) say goodbye to us and c) say goodbye to Steinunn who will be spending the winter in Denmark doing her graduate work in psychology.
After the party was over, and Bjarki finally succumbed to sleep after all the excitement, we headed out to say a formal goodbye to my dad, and then ended up at Guðrún’s and Snorri’s place for a quick chat, that was originally envisioned as a game session, but postponed due to Bjarki’s late bedtime.
Tuesday
Finnur and Bjarki spent the day at home-base. Meanwhile, Anna and I braved the dubious looking clouds and headed to grandma Hrefna’s summer-house (50 min driving distance) to pick berries. We picked quite a few before it started raining, after which I ventured out alone in full rain-gear up the hill for some more. It was lovely and I’ve already posted a couple of pictures. We drove back into town around dinner time and donated some berries to my mom.
Bjarki took his sweet time falling asleep for the night, but when he finally did succumb (10pm-ish), we took off to Holla and Óli’s to give Óli a Happy Birthday-hug. 🙂
Wednesday
We slept in to about 10am. Around 2pm I took Anna to visit Hjördís, to finally see her newest little boy, Helgi, who shares my birthday! Afterwards we headed to Nökkvi and Jóhanna’s place for a family meal – a delicious seafood soup plus ice cream for dessert. I don’t know how we’ll ever wean Anna off of ice cream for dessert after this trip!! 🙂
Instead of waiting around for Bjarki to fall asleep, we this time took off around 10pm to visit Guðrún and Snorri again, but this time we actually managed to play a game: Munchkins. Finnur won the first one, and I won the second – it helped having a Really Impressive Title (No Value) of Doom!! (see pictures below)… 🙂
