In Hvalfjörður
We had big plans for Tuesday (a hike, big dinner-BBQ with friends in the city), but they fell apart when I developed a mild stomach-upset late Monday night. Nothing serious happened, well except excessive air-ation, but it left me drained and dragging for the remainder of the day. The only other casualty was Anna, who’s body decided to go the quick and dramatic route in the morning, and was then fine for the rest of the day.
Thankfully the kids played together wonderfully, although Bjarki was tired and testy. It didn’t help that he fell hard on some concrete stairs the day before, and I’m sure the huge bruise/scrape on his forehead was aching. Again, the weather was just amazing, with warm winds coming from the north for most of the day, although it chilled down towards the evening.
After dinner I had recovered enough so that we could make it back to the city, and boy, it was a gorgeous drive, with the sun casting a yellowish “I’m thinking about setting, but not-quite-yet” glow on the green treeless slopes, with cows and horses and sheep milling about, trying not to bother about the wind too much. There’s no denying that this is my all time favorite landscape in the world… 🙂
