Three visits, no photos
Bjarki woke up at 7am today, and sounded unhappy, so I’m guessing it wasn’t the lack of sunlight. Granny Anna heard him and rescued him from the bed, much to his and our joy. The lack of sunlight on the other hand did help me in persuading Anna that it was really morning still minutes before Granny Anna showed up, and Anna promptly fell asleep and slept until 10 am, which is when Bjarki came charging into the room.
After breakfast, I took the kids to visit my friend Hildur, and her two girls. There we were joined by more friends, and after lunch we walked to a nearby forest where “naturalistic” (all rope and wood from the forest) play-structures have been set up. Totally and utterly child-unsafe stuff, but oh, so much fun. 🙂
By the time we arrived back at home-base around 2pm, Bjarki was sound asleep, so we quickly picked up Finnur and headed to my mom’s place. Miraculously we managed to transfer Bjarki from the car to a bed while still sleeping (!!!) so there was lots of peace to fix the toilet, tv and phones before dropping Pétur’s computer off at a fixing-house full of nerds.
We then set out again, this time to Elsa and Þráinn’s place, whom we last met in Oregon. There we had a lovely dinner, and a great chat, even though the youngest children were both pretty tired and cranky.
It’s now shortly before 11 pm, the kids are asleep, and I’m looking at a huge cloud that’s capping Mount Esja outside our window. The sun appears to be down, but it’s still light outside, easily enough for a romantic walk, except it’s pretty darn cold outside. Yup, the weather-charm has broken a bit, although not by very much. It was yet another pretty day, but 10°C colder than days past.
Tomorrow we’re going to yet another summer house, where we’ll spend either one or two nights – with no internet. How will we survive?! 🙂
P.s. I took zero pictures today. Don’t know why. Photo-fatigue? Hopefully Hildur will forward me some from this morning later… 🙂
GSM síminn loksins kominn í samband
[This is only of interest to Icelanders, so Icelandic only this time]
Farsíminn okkar er loksins kominn í samband (867 2717). Við erum búin að standa í stappi við Símann síðan á laugardag við að breyta Frelsisnúmeri í áskriftarnúmer og alltaf fengum við mismunandi svör frá þjónustuaðilunum:
Lau: “Tekur einn virkan dag að virkja símann, tilbúið á mánudaginn.”
Mán: “Nei, tekur einn *til* tvo daga, tilbúið á þriðjudaginn.”
Þri: “Finn ekki pöntunina. Ég hringi í söluskrifstofuna en þau svara yfirleitt aldrei þannig að þetta verður ekki tilbúið fyrr en á miðvikudag.” (svolítið írónískt að símafyrirtæki svari ekki í símann!)
Mið: “Það gleymdist að láta ykkur undirrita samninginn, mætið í söluverið.” (what!?)
Söluverið: “Þið eruð búin að undirrita. Málið er að upplýsingarnar voru teknar niður en pöntunin var aldrei send. Komið í hádeginu á fimmtudegi.” (wait wait, what!?!)
