Þéttskipuð dagskrá á sunnudegi
[Grandma Anna took Anna Sólrún out to play again this morning so Hrefna and I got to sleep in again, second day in a row. What a luxury! 🙂 Just after 11am we got out the door; Hrefna to the hospital to see Bjarki while I took Anna to Nate’s birthday party – Nate is Anna’s old classmate. But first we went to the toy store to pick up a birthday present for Nate, Playmobile knights and a Playmobile diver (he is a big diving enthusiast). Anna Sólrún was so cute in the toy store: she walked straight to a container with soccer balls in it, picked out one large pink one, put it under her arm (her arm almost not large enough to hold it) and said to me: “dad, I’m going to buy this ball”. Her dad of course saw grand visions of a female Beckham soccer star, patted her daughter on the head and stormed to her to the checkout, with the cell phone on one ear trying to recruit a manager for the newly discovered star and book some soccer practice.
Nate’s birthday celebration took place in a gym close to Google and when we arrived almost all (if not all) of Anna’s old class were there, and then some. Everyone had fun running, climbing, jumping and swinging. Dad of course got grand visions of Anna being the next Nadia gym star, picked up the phone, fired her manager and hired a new one who specializes in gym prodigies.
After the party we headed off to the hospital to pick up Hrefna and stopped on the way to say hi to Bjarki Freyr. He see to be doing well; they keep increasing the milk rations and he seems to tolerate it well. He’s up to 10ml every 3 hours which is 50% of the nutrition he needs (rest is through IV). Hrefna got to hold him for quite a while and when we were about to leave he openend his eyes and held them open for a good 30 seconds which I haven’t seen him do before (not this long). The doctor is positive about the weeks progress; Bjarki is still on CPAP and seems to be progressing well. He does keep them a bit busy throught he apnea spell where they need to intercept (increase the oxygen) but that’s the way of the premies and is supposed to subside as they get older.
When we got home, grandma Anna tried to put Anna Sólrún to sleep, who was a little too excited after all the sugar at the party and after a while Anna Sólrún got the better of her and Hrefna took over and finally managed to get her to sleep. In the meantime I washed three loads of laundry, went to see and apartment for rent (didn’t like it) and on the way back I stopped to fetch the urn with Reynir Hugi’s remains. After some brainstorming about where to place the urn we decided to postpone the decision and start making dinner while the Anna’s went out to play again. Rosemary Chicken for dinner tonight.]
