In Iceland!
We landed in Iceland Friday morning after a messy trip from CA. There’s just no way to travel “cleanly” with a 2 year old! 🙂 Anna went through a total of 3 outfits: 1) carsick just as we pulled up to the Oakland airport, 2) was so utterly determined to get to hold her own bottle of orange juice that she spilled a bunch on herself, 3) peed in her Icelandair seat. The airstaff took it very well, just handed us a bunch of towels and a pillow for her to sit on.
She actually had a diaper on the entire way over, but since we kept taking her to the bathroom to do her buisness, the diaper stayed dry – and slowly got all crumbled up inside. So when the accident finally came, the diaper was in shambles and the peed just escaped from it! Something to learn I guess…
Anyway, we landed safe and sound at 7am local time (11pm our time, we’d woken up at 5:30am) and were picked up by my father-in-law. I tore everything out of our bags, and then we slept for about 5 hours. Then I packed another bag and we drove out of town to Hotel Glymur, where we celbrated the 65 year old birthday of Finnur’s cousin Ulla with style! There was glorious food and great company and we stayed the night.
Today, we came back to Mosó, unpacked (again!), washed and then went to see my mother and brothers. Happily, my grandmother was also there! 🙂 Out of no-where my brother suggested we see King Kong, so we left Anna with her granny Ásdís and took off for three hours! Actually, she got reinforcements when my brother Pétur came home from work that night – but since we deserted him, we’ll have to take him to see Narnia. Oh, bugger… 😉 hehe…
King Kong was fine, a bit loooong, and indulgent, but total eye candy – minus those gory minutes somewhere past the mid-point. Ewww, I closed my eyes…
