I now declare you a grown-up!
Today was the day of Bjarni’s confirmation, aka my reason for being in Iceland! Anna and I skipped the church part in the morning, but embarked on an elaborate sleep schedule instead ing so Anna would be freshly awoken by the time we arrived at the photographer’s around 12:30. The photography-session went well we hope, we’ll know when the pictures arrive!
After being flashed and flashed again, we headed to the party, which was a roaring success! 🙂 The food/cakes (prepared by my mother’s friend and her mother) were just astoundingly fabulous and well laid out, everybody was in a good mood, and I took about 300 pictures. The confirmation-boy himself seemed to enjoy himself, although he did get so tired of the pictures being taken of him, that he confiscated my camera and started taking pictures himself!
Once we’d cleaned up after the party, we all went home to my mother’s, where Anna crashed (she almost fell asleep at the party, but tore herself up) and we whittled the 300 pictures down to about 100. They now await my photo-shopping treatment and then actual printing.
Oh, and the star of the day walked away with a very nice haul, 130.000 Icelandic krona or about $2200, given the currently abysmal rate of the dollar. He also got a computer from mum and an iPod from us. Not a bad start to adulthood! 🙂
